Search MCRO for Crow Wing County Court Records
Minnesota Court Records Online Case Search, known as MCRO, is the main public search path for Crow Wing County court records filed in District Court. MCRO covers Minnesota district trial court case information and lets a user search by name, case number, citation number, or attorney. For a county-specific search, select specific county court locations and choose Crow Wing. That filter matters because common names can return statewide matches from other Minnesota counties.
MCRO is useful for public case details, registers of actions, hearing entries, monetary judgment details, and public documents that the Judicial Branch allows for remote access. It is not the official court case record. The Minnesota Judicial Branch does not certify MCRO records or search results, and certified copies of Crow Wing County court documents must come from local Court Administration.

Crow Wing County Court Records Search Fields
MCRO has several search fields that change depending on the tab. Case-number searching is best when a court file number is known. Name searching is broader but less certain, especially when a person uses an alias or shares a common name. Citation-number searching is useful for traffic, petty misdemeanor, and some criminal matters. Attorney searching can locate cases tied to an attorney name or Minnesota license number.
The MCRO Document Search is separate from Case Search and shows only documents that are both public and available for remote display. It should not be treated as a complete file inventory.

Types of Crow Wing County Court Records
Crow Wing County District Court is the local trial court for civil, family, probate, juvenile, criminal, traffic, petty misdemeanor, conciliation, and docketed civil money judgment records. There is no separate county court at law, justice court, or independent probate court for the county. Probate and traffic matters are District Court case types, and conciliation matters are maintained by Court Administration.
Record type affects both the search path and public access. A civil money judgment may be searched by judgment debtor, while a traffic citation may be easier to find by citation number. A family case may appear in MCRO, but some documents in divorce or custody matters can be confidential, redacted, or available only by court order or terminal access.
- Civil records include complaints, answers, motions, affidavits, orders, judgments, and docketed money judgments.
- Conciliation records include small-claims-style statements, hearing notices, judgments, satisfaction papers, and appeal or removal papers.
- Criminal records include citations, complaints, charges, pleas, hearings, dispositions, sentences, probation terms, fines, fees, and public warrant events.
- Family records include divorce, custody, support, orders, judgments and decrees, and post-decree motions, with limits for private data.
- Probate records include estate filings, wills submitted for probate, appointments, inventories, guardianship files, conservatorship files, and orders.
- Traffic and petty misdemeanor records include citation data, hearings, dispositions, fines, fees, and payment status where public.
What Crow Wing County Court Records Show
A Crow Wing County court record usually has a court file number, case category, party names, party roles, filing date, status, event history, hearings, and disposition information. Minnesota court file numbers in the research sample used formats such as 18-CR-26-1831, 18-CV-26-1654, 18-FA-15-875, 18-CO-26-179, and 18-VB-26-1145. The 18 prefix identifies Crow Wing County in the observed court numbering pattern.
The Register of Actions is the chronological docket for a case. It can show filings, notices, hearings, orders, dispositions, judgments, and sentence events. It is not the same as every filed document. Public Access for Crow Wing County Court Records
Court records in Crow Wing County are governed by Minnesota Judicial Branch public access rules. Rule 8 explains inspection, copying, bulk distribution, and remote access. It is the reason courthouse terminals can show more than MCRO, while MCRO limits certain records, documents, address fields, and comments from internet display. County records held by offices such as the Sheriff's Records Unit follow the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, but Judicial Branch case records use court rules.
For routine searching, MCRO is the first channel. For documents not displayed online, use a courthouse public access terminal or contact Crow Wing County Court Administration. For sheriff incident, arrest, crash, or citation reports, use the Sheriff's Records Unit instead because those are law enforcement records, not court case files.

Restricted Crow Wing County Court Records
Minnesota Rule of Public Access 4 lists categories that are not accessible to the public or are limited by statute, rule, or court order. In Crow Wing County, this can affect juvenile delinquency, child protection, adoption, medical, mental health, sealed, confidential, and some domestic abuse or harassment records. MCRO also states that CHIPS and Juvenile Delinquency Felony 16 case types are not shown, and public documents in civil commitment case types are not available through MCRO.
Sealed and expunged records require special care. Minnesota expungement law allows some people to petition to seal records relating to an arrest, indictment or information, trial, verdict, or conviction. A sealed court file is not open to the public unless a statute, rule, or court order allows access. A court-only expungement may leave some agency records outside the sealed court file.

Crow Wing County Court Records Requests
Crow Wing County Court Administration handles certified court documents, courthouse terminal access, civil judgment search certification, and case-record questions for District Court files. The local office is at the Judicial Center in Brainerd. Court Administration maintains civil, family, probate, traffic, criminal, juvenile, conciliation, and docketed civil money judgment records.
Use the office when MCRO is not enough. That includes certified copies, records that are public but not remote, terminal-only documents, and questions about whether a file is maintained locally. Marriage certificates are different: Crow Wing County Land Services handles certified marriage certificates only when the license was applied for in Crow Wing County.
